SmartCitiesWorld Case Study - The Role of Blockchain in Cities

The Story

The Pillar Project is a Swiss nonprofit, based in Zug. As a platform, it welcomes third-party developers and entrepreneurs to build out its ecosystem with specific focus on blockchain.

They wanted to gauge the level of understanding of blockchain and its uses within government organisations, utility providers and within the transportation system.

SmartCitiesWorld created a package of activities that included:

  • A panel debate & roundtable event bringing together delegates from governance, utilities and transportation.
  • A world-wide survey researching the role of blockchain in cities
  • Sponsorship of 3 x Guest Opinions

Success

By using the seat of power in London, the iconic City Hall provided the perfect location to bring together delegates from government authorities, utility companies and transport providers. Delegates came from Transport for London, Ealing Council, Kent County Council, BT, National Grid, Costain, First, Go-Ahead, Eltek Power, Greater London Authority.
