
AI CityXchange – announced at Smart City Expo World Congress and starting in January 2026 – is part of the Technology Innovation for Community Centric Cities Campaign (TICCCITIES), which showcases how innovation can help cities succeed when focused on community needs.
AI CityXchange is an international workshop series designed to help cities accelerate the practical adoption of artificial intelligence. Bringing together local government leaders, practitioners and industry experts, it provides a collaborative space to explore real urban challenges, share proven approaches and build capability through hands-on learning.
Delivered with host city halls to ensure accessibility and local relevance, each event offers two tailored streams - Foundations and Scaling & Innovation. Through focused content, peer exchange and guided discussion, AI CityXchange equips cities with the insights and confidence they need to turn AI ambition into meaningful, citizen-centred impact.

The Sunderland edition of AI CityXchange will showcase the city's leadership in applying AI in local government. Attendees will explore Sunderland City Council's approach to responsible innovation, including the frameworks, partnerships and practices driving real impact, alongside the role of regional collaboration is enabling effective, scalable AI across the North East.

The London edition of AI CityXchange will spotlight the city’s journey in applying AI within local government. Participants will gain insight into London’s approach to responsible innovation, including the frameworks, partnerships, and operational practices that have enabled progress.

The Dublin edition of AI CityXchange covers the journey cities are taking on AI adoption, including lessons emerging from previous workshops, and gives councils the opportunity to share what they are currently doing, where they are seeing value, and where they are still facing uncertainty.

The Barcelona edition of AI CityXchange will run alongside Smart City Expo World Congress in November, where more than 25,000 global leaders, innovators and practitioners come together to shape the future of smart cities. The workshop will provide a focused forum to explore how AI can address urban challenges and accelerate impactful solutions, with further details to be shared shortly.
