Use cases already show that the network’s geolocation connectivity is well suited for the country’s wide open spaces and urban centres
Kerlink, a provider of Internet of Things (IoT) network solutions, has announced it is supporting New Zealand digital-services company Spark in its efforts to roll out a nationwide LoRaWAN IoT network
The deployment extends Kerlink’s, international footprint, following nationwide deployments in India and Argentina this year.
Kerlink’s technology enables device native geolocation using the radio network and geolocation-ready LoRaWAN gateways like those it provides.
Early adopters of LoRaWAN connectivity in New Zealand include the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA). Spark also is targeting key sectors such as health, safety, transportation, asset tracking and smart cities.
Since the start of network roll-out, Spark has also partnered with Farmlands and Ballance Agri-Nutrients, two farmer-owned co-operatives, which have created smart farming use cases.
Farmers can reportedly receive real-time information about their operations from an array of sensors, enabling them to analyse data in real time from multiple areas to support farm decisions.
“Working closely with Spark, Kerlink again demonstrates the performance, scalability and flexibility of its stations and its focus on customer success,” said Arnaud Boulay, Asia Pacific sales director, Kerlink. “Spark already has created use cases that will demonstrate the LoRaWAN network’s energy-efficient, geolocation connectivity that is well suited for both the wide-open spaces and urban centres of New Zealand.”
Kerlink is a co-founder and board member of the LoRa Alliance which specialises in network solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT). Its mission is to provide clients with equipment, software and services to design, launch and operate IoT networks.
Over the past three years, Kerlink has invested more than €8m in research and development. In 10 years, it claims to have rolled out more than 70,000 installations for more than 260 customers, including major operators such Tata Communications, and utilities such as GrDF and Suez.
