RoadBotics rating index provides granular information for government officials to make informed pavement management decisions, including on pothole and road repairs.
RoadBotics has introduced a pavement condition rating feature for its online road assessment platform, RoadWay.
The HD-PCI (high-definition pavement situation index) is intended to help government officials make informed pavement management decisions, including pothole and other road repairs.
With traditional pavement condition index (PCI), a numerical index of 0-100 is used to indicate the condition of randomly chosen pavement sections. RoadBotics claims its propriety HD-PCI can produce that same rating with more objective data (derived from machine learning algorithms) and factors in the density and severity of each distress present for every square foot of roadway across an entire road network.

In addition to HD-PCI, the company reports users can now view their data in greater detail on the individual distress identification (IDI) analysis page, where they can create custom tables sorted by road ratings, distress density, and number of specific distresses.
The recent dynamic segmentation and embeddable maps feature also now includes IDI data for a more complete picture of a road network’s overall health and viability.

The company also announced its data scientists are turning their latest research endeavours into 3D reconstruction for pavement management available in its research and development blog series.
Road assessment CSV files and custom tables are now fully exportable, making users’ road network data more accessible and able to be analysed off-platform.
RoadBotics started with an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) product capable of automatically assessing roadways that, the company reports, has enabled more than 250 governments worldwide to objectively manage their road networks.
Since then, it has expanded into additional government-focused solutions including video-logging, sidewalk assessments, and citizen engagement tools.
