Private enterprises are helping to provide innovative solutions to the growing needs of municipalities at a time when budgets are becoming strained
Peterson Partners and Mountaineer Capital Partners have forged an alliance to develop an investment platform that will focus on solutions for aging public infrastructure across the United States.
Peterson Partners is an independent investment management while Mountaineer Capital Partners is an independent investment sponsor specialising in early stage growth businesses in the municipal market channel.
The new alliance will connect private enterprises with the public sector with the aim of delivering economically viable solutions for infrastructure issues facing cities and towns in areas such as inflow and infiltration, energy efficiency, LED lighting, and smart city technologies.
“We believe this alliance creates a powerful vehicle to provide businesses operating in the municipal market sector with a unique combination of significant financial capability, broad operating experience, and a deep understanding of the municipal market,” said Matt Day, partner at Peterson Partners.
“Mountaineer Capital Partners brings a unique understanding and perspective of the municipal market segment as well as a deep operational experience in successfully serving the needs of municipalities and their residents.”
“Public-private partnerships are growing in popularity with city officials as private enterprises are providing innovative solutions to many of the growing needs of municipalities at a time when municipal budgets are becoming more and more strained,” said Brad Carmichael, managing member at Mountaineer Capital Partners.
“We are excited with the opportunity to work with Peterson Partners to bring investment opportunities to those businesses that are looking to further develop their presence in the municipal market sector with attractive value propositions for city officials.”
Based in Salt Lake City, Peterson Partners said it has raised eight growth-oriented private equity funds and has invested in more than 130 companies across a variety of asset classes since 2003.
