Micro-mobility solutions and services specialist, Segway-Ninebot, will unveil its latest innovations focused on eco-friendly last mile transportation at the CES 2019 trade show in Las Vegas, which runs 8-11 January.

The company has built an ecosystem of micro-mobility projects which makes use of robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud-based technologies to help shape the future of short-distance transportation for cities.

Focusing on delivery and the last-mile

The new products include the autonomous Loomo Delivery vehicle, designed for short-distance take-outs, parcels and goods, and the Segway-powered electric shared scooter, Model Max.

“As we continue to expand our portfolio of products, it’s with an eye towards true innovation that will enable individuals to move around their cities in a greener, more efficient and time-saving way, while also providing businesses with solutions that help them deliver goods and services more speedily over short distances,” said Luke Gao, CEO of Segway-Ninebot.

He added: “The debut of the Loomo Delivery and new scooter will offer brand-new options within the realm of last-mile transportation, as cities continue to become more and more populated.”

With the delivery service in the US alone a multi-billion-dollar industry, Segway-Ninebot explained that Loomo Delivery aims to provide a comprehensive autonomous delivery solution for office buildings, shopping malls, and other destinations. It features AI and claims to be able to safely navigate obstacles and crowded environments while cloud management enables it to perform cloud-based dispatch services, real-time monitoring, elevator integration and a real-time help service.

The next-generation electric shared scooter, Model Max, Powered by Segway, is directly positioned for last-mile transportation. It has been designed to take into consideration complex shared usage scenarios, consumer overuse of vehicles, operation models and maintenance costs.

One of Segway-Ninebot’s goals is to improve reliability and weather resistance and help operators significantly reduce operating and maintenance cost as well as lengthen the lifespan of the vehicle. It will also work with operators to customise products to meet the different needs of users in each market.

Segway-Ninebot will display all of their latest products at their CES booth in the Las Vegas Convention Centre South Hall, #26009.
