Microland announces Digital Council-in-a-box

Digital accelerator Microland has introduced ‘Digital Council-in-a-box’ that aims to enable public sector enterprises to deliver improved citizen experience at reduced operational cost.

 

Targeted at UK councils and local authorities, the solution comprises three digital accelerators to help leverage next-generation technologies to enhance citizen service effectiveness, increase employee productivity, reduce cost to serve, and improve overall citizen engagement.

 

The three digital accelerators are:

  • Citizen First: with smart usage of chatbots and interfaces like Siri or Alexa, this can be used to receive council information, apply for a job opening, ask for waste collection or even book a restaurant. According to Microland, its social listening platform offers insights on positive and negative sentiments from citizens at large, allowing councils to focus on real issues in real time, thereby creating a “superlative user experience”
  • One Council: this brings together various internal departments on a single mobile app for council employees. Applying for leave, celebrating colleague birthdays, getting council-related news, enrolling for new training programmes is possible through a single mobile interface
  • Agile IT: every council and local body has a ‘cloud first’ strategy. This accelerator aims to make it easy to migrate legacy applications to cloud, transform networks to leverage SDN technologies, manage the complex hybrid cloud environments through predictive analytics and 24x7 managed services through fully compliant (soon to be CES+, BS10012 and ISO27001 certified) digital hub.

According to Microland, by leveraging its G-Cloud 9 status, Digital Council-in-a-box offers a modular and integrated, secured and compliant platform that allows councils to take a tiered approach to digital transformation.

 

Microland claims it can lead to a 30 per cent reduction in operational cost, and 30 per cent faster time to market with significant improvements in performance and technology alignment with council operations.

 

“There is increasing digitalisation in citizens’ way of living that stems from growing expectation of personalised and customised citizen services. Changes in the societal and economic arenas are driving government agencies and leaders to rethink how they design and create public services for the future,” said Pradeep Kar, founder, chairman and managing director, Microland.

 

“Adopting a solution like Digital Council-in-a-box will help government bodies create a more digitalised public services experience putting citizens’ needs first. This innovative offering stems from our endeavour to be a digital accelerator to enterprises and government institutions and ultimately result in efficient and accelerated enterprise and public services.”

 

In a separate announcement, Microland reports that Ealing Council has chosen to extend and expand its partnership to accelerate its digital transformation journey. This partnership signifies an expansion in Microland’s scope of services being offered to the council, which includes some IT services, data centre migration to hybrid cloud and support to various digital transformation programmes.

“As part of our Future Ealing Transformation Programme, the Council is committed to looking for new and innovative solutions that place our residents at the core of everything we do, while ensuring robust, sustainable and viable council actions," said Ian O’Donnell, Ealing’s executive director of corporate resources.

"We have ambitious plans for the Council’s digital future and our relationship with Microland in the past year ensures they not only understand our intricate IT ecosystem, but also have proven capabilities to deliver agile and responsive environments."
