Californian city San Ramon has chosen to deploy a parking guidance and wayfinding system from McCain at its downtown parking facility to help improve the parking experience for the visiting public.
The new City Centre area is part of a two-phase smart city expansion project and is a central gathering space and new heart of downtown San Ramon.
The City Centre Bishop Ranch parking facility is a four-level facility providing parking for 915 cars. Each level has two entry and two exit lanes. The new implementation replaces an existing non-functioning system and is intended to maximise parking facility occupancy and boost revenue by directing drivers to available parking.
The Optipark Parking Guidance System (PGS) captures data through camera sensors, then delivers crucial parking availability and location information to drivers utilising the existing LED signs at the Bishop Ranch Garage.
According to city authorities, Optipark PGS was selected for its accuracy in capturing parking space data through cameras and software and being able to disseminate that information to third parties or through third party apps and websites.

With data captured revealing more than 99 per cent accuracy, McCain claims its solution maximises both parking space utilisation and visitor satisfaction.
“Our customers love that Optipark’s detection accuracy has a 99 per cent guarantee. And their customers appreciate finding a parking space quickly and efficiently. It’s an easy win-win for all,” said David Leingang, spokesperson for McCain.
