Utility benefits from being able to streamline customer service and bill payment while reducing operational costs
Itron has extended its existing agreement with state-owned utility company PT PLN, Jakarta, Indonesia, to supply an additional 500,000 smart payment meters. Earlier this year, the energy management solution provider won a contract to deploy 635,000 smart payment meters in the republic.
The smart meter roll-out will be delivered through PT Mecoindo, a subsidiary of Itron.
According to Itron, the solution will help the utility to implement revenue protection measures while empowering consumers to manage their electricity usage according to individual budgets and needs.
With Itron’s smart payment solution, consumers have insights into their remaining energy balance, reducing the likelihood of an untimely shut-off. In addition, PT PLN benefits from being able to streamline customer service and bill payment while reducing operational costs, manage account risks and improving cash flow.
“Itron’s smart payment solution is helping PT PLN enhance our ability to provide convenient and affordable electricity services to energy consumers in Indonesia,” said Septa Hamid, general manager of supply chain management at PT PLN (Persero). “We are pleased to be able to extend this benefit to even more customers with this new contract.”
