SmartCitiesWorld has entered a media partnership with the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organisation (WeGO). Both organisations will share content and work together on events and other initiatives that support shared goals.

Established by 50 founding members in 2010, WeGO is an international association of city and other local governments, smart tech solution providers, and national and regional institutions committed to the transformation of cities into smart sustainable cities.

WeGO’s secretariat is based in Seoul with regional offices in Africa, China, Russia, Turkey, and Mexico.

Smart cities for all

WeGO’s vision is to create “smart sustainable cities for all”, encouraging and supporting innovative cities that leverage digital technology and connectivity to improve the quality of life, efficiency of urban operation and services, and economic prosperity for all citizens, while ensuring long-term economic, social, and environmental sustainability.

“SmartCitiesWorld’s platform provides readers with not only the latest smart city news, but also informative trend reports, research whitepapers, webinars, and opinions from thought-leaders in the field. By partnering with SCW, we aim to bring this current content to our members, offering them additional knowledge-sharing and capacity-building opportunities,” said Kyong-yul Lee, secretary general of WeGO.

Chris Cooke, founder and CEO of SmartCitiesWorld, said: “Our partnership with WeGO supports SmartCitiesWorld’s ambition to ensure our content informs, inspires and connects cities with its partners, and that it is accessible and available to all. WeGO and its global city membership, combined with its commitment to help cities become smarter and more sustainable, means that our goals are aligned, and it is the perfect partner to work with.

“By partnering with WeGO, we will enhance the world-leading information we provide for our global networks and further broaden our reach. Our collaboration is great news for our network of city leaders and their partners as it will help them to make their cities smarter and safer, and more resilient, sustainable and prosperous places where citizens and businesses can thrive.”

UK-based SmartCitiesWorld provides a comprehensive and current global content resource for urban leaders and their partners. More than 100,000 visitors – spanning the public, private and academic sectors – from over 1,000 cities and 186 countries globally visit the website each month.
