If we don’t tell the smart city story better, we are set to see a backlash and technology’s benefits may not be realised at all, says SmartCitiesWorld editor, Sarah Wray.
Smart city is the framework based on Information and Communication technologies that enable the development of sustainable practices to address the urbanisation challenges. Leveraging the technology is one of the foremost pillars of ‘smart cities’ in order to increase efficiencies and improve the quality of resident’s life and the city’s services.
It focuses on reducing the Canadian city’s risk to climate change-related hazards, while building more resilient communities and supporting the local economy.
Research also reveals that within cities, 72 per cent would use public transport more if it was better connected, with shorter journey times a major factor.
The panel aims to provide residents with access to education and training on AI, enabling local communities to influence the development of AI initiatives.
