West Midlands Combined Authority is working with regional stakeholders to develop a pipeline of projects to help attract investment to tackle climate change.
The network will relay live traffic information to the regional control centre to enable swift action to be taken as queues build up while data gathered will help plan future transport development.
New radio system enables the operator to monitor tram movements and passengers via the network and provides the mechanism to react to incidents with accuracy and efficiency.
Trials will take place in dedicated zones in each local authority, covering areas where existing on-highway infrastructure is in place to safely accommodate e-scooter use.
