Leicester City Council is working with mobility solutions provider SkedGo to launch an analytics dashboard to help turn turn digital journey planning into measurable, decision-ready insight.
The new dashboard allows Leicester City Council to explore user growth and engagement trends, as well as mode use and modal shift over time.
The dashboard builds on SkedGo’s long-standing partnership with Leicester through its Choose How You Move application, a public-facing journey planning service designed to support the city’s Active Travel Strategy.
The platform helps residents discover walking, cycling and public transport options. It also supports efforts to reduce car dependency, congestion and emissions, while helping people make more informed, sustainable travel choices.
“As digital mobility services mature, councils increasingly need more than usage numbers. They need insight that connects travel behaviour with policy goals, investment decisions and communications activity”
By combining a journey planning platform with analytics, Leicester City Council will gain deeper insight into how residents travel and how digital services support wider transport and policy outcomes.
“Over time, Leicester City Council has continuously enhanced the service with new features and functionality,” said John Nuutinen, CEO of SkedGo. “The introduction of a dedicated analytics dashboard is the next logical step, shifting from service delivery to evidence-led strategy.

“As digital mobility services mature, councils increasingly need more than usage numbers. They need insight that connects travel behaviour with policy goals, investment decisions and communications activity.”
The new dashboard also provides insight into time-of-day travel patterns and origins and destinations across the Greater Leicester region. This data can be compared directly with marketing and behaviour-change initiatives, helping the council understand what influences people to choose greener modes – particularly active travel.
“Local authorities are increasingly investing in outcomes, not software licences. The dashboard reframes journey planning data into metrics that matter, including congestion reduction, emissions, accessibility and equity,” added Nuutinen.
“As more cities seek evidence-based ways to deliver active travel and climate goals, analytics that reflect real-world behaviour will be essential. For SkedGo, this project demonstrates how mobility technology can move beyond trip planning to become a strategic tool for cities working to deliver healthier, more sustainable and more inclusive transport systems.”
