Countdown to Cities Climate Action Summit 2025

There is just over a month to go until this year’s SmartCitiesWorld Cities Climate Action Summit (CCAS), the must-attend city, local-government and sub-national event dedicated to helping cities accelerate urban climate action through sharing best practice from around the world.

Taking place on 24 June (online) and 25 June (in-person in London’s County Hall), and an official London Climate Action Week event, the Summit brings together visionary city leaders, creative policymakers, green finance experts, and cutting-edge technology innovators. The focus is on driving action to solve urban climate challenges, building resilience and developing economic opportunities by both collaboration and harnessing technology.

CCAS 2025 speakers and agenda

SmartCitiesWorld has put together a packed agenda that aims to equip delegates with the knowledge and tools they need to achieve their climate goals. Cities from around the world will be represented and our line-up of city speakers includes:

• Susan Aitken, leader of Glasgow City Council
• Mete Coban, deputy mayor for environment and energy, Greater London Authority
• Lord Marvin Rees, former mayor, Bristol City Council
• Jaromir Beranek, deputy of the Prague City Assembly, City of Prague
• Anna Lisa Boni, deputy mayor, Municipality of Bologna
• Mark Atherton, director of environment, Greater Manchester Combined Authority
• Oleg Polovynko, advisor to the mayor of Kyiv on Digitalisation, Kyiv City Administration.

Meanwhile, visionary speakers taking part in discussion panels and fireside chats include:

• Greg Jackson, founder and CEO, Octopus Energy who will discuss the future of energy
• Carlos Moreno, Scientific Director, ETI Lab, IAE Paris-Panthéon Sorbonne, who developed the concept of the 15-minute city
• Eleni Myrivili, global chief heat officer, UN-Habitat, a world-renowned voice on building heat resilience.

Our partners include the organisers of London Climate Action Week and the highly influential C40 Cities Network, who share our mission to drive local and global climate action. C40 Cities’ director of urban planning and design, Hélène Chartier, will take part in a panel discussion focused on climate governance.

Delegates will also be able to meet and talk with a number of climate tech companies in our exhibition area and there is also time built in for peer networking.
