Agency’s mobile ticketing app enables Halifax riders to purchase fares anytime, anywhere, simplifying rider access to Halifax Transit bus and ferry services.
Transportation agency Halifax Transit in Nova Scotia, Canada, has introduced a digital fare payment system, powered by Masabi through its open platform.
HFXGO, the agency’s new mobile ticketing app, enables Halifax riders to purchase fares anytime, anywhere, simplifying rider access to Halifax Transit bus and ferry services.
Riders can purchase tickets on their phone and when boarding show their mobile device, speeding up the boarding process. They can also now purchase tickets online using the new Halifax Transit web portal, and push tickets to their mobile device. All ticket types are available to purchase via the app and web portal.
“Anything to improve the experience for our customers is always top of mind,” said Dave Reage, executive director of Halifax Transit. “Our new app, HFXGO, provides an additional option for fare payment, allowing customers to purchase tickets and passes from the convenience of their smartphones.”
“Mobile ticketing is a logical choice for agencies putting their customers’ convenience first, giving them the efficiency and simplicity of ticket purchasing and processing at the touch of a button,” said Brian Zanghi, CEO of Masabi.
“We are delighted to launch this best-in-class solution with Halifax, joining the ranks of transit agencies around the world adopting the Masabi Justride platform, and look forward to working with the agency to further develop the service in the future.”

In the future, ticket validators, manufactured by Masabi, will be installed on Halifax Transit buses and ferries, simplifying and accelerating the boarding process for riders.
Masabi is bringing fare payments-as-a-service to public transit agencies and authorities of all sizes around the globe. This enables the delivery of the latest fare payment innovations quickly, using a platform that is constantly updating and adding new features.
According to Masabi, not only does this improve the journey experience for passengers, but it helps agencies keep up with the pace of technology change while reducing the total cost of fare collection.
