In an era of urbanisation and technological advancement, city authorities are constantly challenged to make data-driven decisions that can enhance operational efficiency, public safety, and cost-effectiveness.

As the speed of urban innovation increases, and more cities look to experiment with new technologies, the answer to these challenges potentially sits with the rollout of digital twins – a transformative technology that promises to revolutionise the way cities and public services are planned, managed, and optimised.

In partnership with Hexagon, SmartCitiesWorld is hosting this insightful webinar where we explore the potential for digital twins to disrupt the status quo for city planners and administrators. We’ll hear how Campo de Cartagena, located in the Murcia region of Spain, is building the country’s first digital twin that will make visual comparisons of changes to water, vegetation and the environment over time.

Our expert speakers will delve into how city authorities can harness this innovative technology to create digital realities, providing them with a holistic view of their urban landscapes. We will guide you through the key concepts and practical applications of digital twins in city management, including:

  • Understanding digital twins: We will demystify the concept of digital twins and how they replicate physical assets, infrastructure, and systems within a virtual environment.
  • Real-world applications: Explore real-world use cases of digital twins in cities, including infrastructure maintenance, traffic management, and emergency response. Discover how digital twins are driving tangible improvements in operational efficiency and public safety.
  • Data-driven decision making: Learn how digital twins enable city decision-makers to harness vast amounts of data to make informed and timely choices. We will discuss the integration of IoT sensors, data analytics, and AI to facilitate better decision-making.
  • Enhancing public services: Uncover how digital twins facilitate the creation of more liveable, sustainable, and resilient cities. You’ll see how this technology can lead to cost savings, improved public services, and enhanced citizen experiences.
  • Challenges and implementation strategies: Discuss the challenges and considerations involved in implementing digital twins in urban contexts. We’ll provide strategies for overcoming common obstacles and share best practices for successful adoption.
  • Future outlook: Gain insights into the future of digital twins in city management, including emerging trends and innovative possibilities for urban development.
