Discover the crucial role industrial sites are playing in shaping safety, resilience, and service continuity for continued city connectivity.
Date recorded: Tuesday 18 November 2025
Length: 60 minutes + Q&A
Industrial sites are the engines of modern cities and economies. Yet as cities grow smarter and more connected, many industrial operations remain constrained by outdated systems, siloed data, and reactive processes. Today, when agility, safety, and efficiency are more critical than ever, the need for integrated, real-time data across smart sites is essential.
Join us for an expert-led webinar, supported by Hexagon, exploring how industrial sites can evolve into fully connected, intelligent environments. Discover how real-time insights, integrated platforms, and customisable technologies are transforming operations – making them not only smarter, but also safer and more resilient.
The session will bring forward real-world insight on:
Municipality of Genoa – bridging history and innovation
Genoa is preserving its UNESCO-listed heritage while modernising urban infrastructure through the "OverUnderGround" project. Led by the Municipality of Genoa, this initiative is supported by the national Competence Centre START 4.0 and Hexagon, together putting to the system advanced technologies such as georadar, BIM, and the HxGN Smart Sites platform to create a dynamic urban digital twin. Giacomo Benedetti, Head of R&D Projects, Technology Transfer, and Test Before Invest Services at START4.0 Competence Centre, will talk about how this project and HxGN Smart Sites are making the difference in building up Genoa’s twinning, integrating diverse data sources; static, dynamic, and real-time into a unified, multiuser interface.
BASF Antwerp – smart site transformation
BASF’s Antwerp plant – Belgium’s largest chemical production site and BASF’s second largest worldwide – has created a digital twin of its 600-hectare facility using Hexagon’s Luciad portfolio, transforming it into a smart site with shared situational and operational awareness. Integrating 25 years of CAD schematics and vast operational data into a single platform, the solution provides a dynamic, georeferenced view of infrastructure and processes across the site. This unified, real-time operating picture enhances safety, efficiency, and collaboration for engineers, managers, and field workers alike, marking a major step forward in digital industrial transformation.
By watching, you can discover how to bridge the gap between industrial operations and smart city ecosystems, and gain insight into the latest technologies enabling real-time monitoring and automation. Learn how your organisation can achieve safer, faster, and more data-driven decision-making, and engage with industry experts to ask questions specific to your needs.
