New York smart city accelerator programme will enable agencies, private companies and academia to test and evaluate eight pilot technology projects per year.
Seven finalists will receive an award of $10,000 from NYC to test their proposals in the city, and be given the opportunity to partner to deliver solutions to local small businesses.
The city is also restricting how long vehicles can cruise empty without passengers in a bid to reduce congestion as well as increase the earning potential for drivers.
The plan will advance $500 million in capital projects and interim measures to protect the area from the effects of climate change into the next century.
