The commuter app Moovit is announcing the global launch of an artificial intelligence- (AI-) powered experience designed to remove the effort and uncertainty from public transit.
AI-powered Trip Insights, smart filters, and MoovitAI aim to simplify and personalise commutes via the app, which is used by more than 1.5 billion users in 3,500 cities across 112 countries.
Navigating transit typically involves searching routes, comparing trade-offs, tracking delays, and adjusting on the fly but the new features shift the burden away from riders. It acts as a personal companion: learning preferences, recommending the best route for an individual, explaining why it’s the right choice, and continuously managing the journey in real-time.
“At Moovit, we’re evolving from a navigation tool to a personal transit assistant,” said Ziv Kabaretti, chief product officer at Moovit. “Moovit handles the complexity so users don’t have to, whether that means optimising faster routes, minimising walking or avoiding disruptions. Users get the right level of insight to trust Moovit’s decision without overthinking it.”
With multiple route options, choosing the best one isn’t always obvious. Moovit now simplifies this by analysing each Suggested Route across factors like travel time, transfers, walking distance and then displays clear, actionable insights so users instantly understand the trade-offs of each option.
Key Trip Insights include:
Additional Trip Insights include: Last Departure, Long Wait Time, Earliest Arrival, Fewest Transfers, Direct, and Least Walking. These Trip Insights are available on both iOS and Android for Moovit+ subscribers.

Filters have also been introduced for Suggested Routes for more control without the added complexity. Riders can now quickly tailor Suggested Routes to match their priorities, including:
Core filters are available to all users, while advanced options are exclusive to Moovit+ on iOS and Android.
Moovit has also introduced Real-time Disruption Detection and Trip Recovery for when plans change. It continuously monitors the journey and proactively reroutes users the moment something goes wrong, minimising delays and eliminating the need to manually plan.
In addition, Moovit now recommends the optimal departure time during trip planning, advising users when to leave to take advantage of faster routes and shorter overall travel time. These features are available on both iOS and Android for Moovit+ subscribers.
Moovit is also rolling out MoovitAI, a generative AI-powered search delivering clear, conversational answers to public transit questions, without the need to navigate multiple screens or menus.
Whether asking “Which subway lines serve Penn Station?”, “When is the earliest train from King’s Cross?”, “How do I get to Copacabana Beach?”, MoovitAI provides fast, straight-forward answers, said Moovit.
Previously available in beta, MoovitAI is now rolling out to all users on iOS, with Android to follow.
