Shuttles will run between the station and Hotel La Tour, allowing researchers more space to understand how the shuttles can safely navigate in an urban area.
Events include the Smart City Robotics Competition, where university teams from across Europe will put robotics skills to the test in real-world challenges.
As well as bringing immediate benefits, the council will explore the use of the network to provide connectivity to the planned autonomous shuttle services.
StreetCav is a plug-and-play driverless shuttle that has been developed by a consortium of private and public sector organisations and will roll out in December.
