Milton Keynes City Council has updated its Sustainability Strategy to focus on practical steps that cut energy use, reduce household bills, and deliver long‑term benefits for local people.
It follows a public consultation, where more than 80 per cent of local people, businesses and community groups said the existing plan needed updating.
The revised strategy responds directly to that feedback and sets out clear actions to help households save money, improve neighbourhoods and support the long‑term health and resilience of the city.
“We’re looking forward to working closely with communities and partners as we put this plan into action and build a greener, cleaner and fairer city together”
The refreshed strategy is built around five key areas:
“This strategy is designed to make a real and positive difference for people across Milton Keynes,” said councillor Shanika Mahendran, cabinet member for planning and placemaking.
“By cutting energy use and improving the quality of our homes, neighbourhoods and green spaces, we can help reduce household bills, improve health and wellbeing, and create new opportunities for local people.
“These are practical changes that benefit everyone. We’re looking forward to working closely with communities and partners as we put this plan into action and build a greener, cleaner and fairer city together.”
The new strategy can be viewed on the city council’s website.
