Gemini Firebox facilitates collaboration between digital twin innovators and infrastructure owners to promote real-world applications of digital twin tech.
The UK’s Digital Twin Hub is launching a new programme to fast-track digital twin technologies and rapidly build a market for products and services.
Gemini Firebox is designed to provide a space for collaboration between digital twin innovators and infrastructure owners. It allows real-world application of digital twin technologies with innovators able to refine their solutions alongside infrastructure owners to ensure they meet industry needs.
The programme marks the next step in the DT Hub’s mission to provide a network for finding partners and collaborators and a place for learning and sharing experiences to drive innovation and develop expertise to advance digital twins.
The hub was launched by the Centre for Digital Britain in 2020 at the University of Cambridge and in 2022 transitioned to a multi-sector industry and Catapult Network partnership housed at the Connected Places Catapult (CPC).
“Companies like ours, doing innovative cutting-edge stuff, don’t have the platform to get in front of and be taken seriously by large organisations. This programme provides that platform”
Gemini Firebox aims to help innovators stand out as a suitable partner company in the digital twin innovation landscape and increase the value of their offer, collaborating with a group of mutually beneficial innovators. It will also enable them to amplify their pitch with a benefit-led transformation story and marketing toolkit for stakeholders to buy into and share.
It seeks to deliver real opportunities within a short timeframe via the following:
The initiative addresses a critical challenge in the industry of connecting cutting-edge innovators with established infrastructure giants. Toby Mills, CEO of Entopy, developer of an AI-powered digital twin platform, said: “Companies like ours, doing innovative cutting-edge stuff, don’t have the platform to get in front of and be taken seriously by large organisations. This programme provides that platform.”
By creating direct collaboration between innovators and infrastructure owners, Gemini Firebox also aims to accelerate the development of targeted solutions. This approach not only drives innovation but also builds valuable relationships within the industry.
“The more dialogue and engagement you can get at this stage, the lower the barrier to entry becomes for everybody,” said Craig Lucas, director of energy transformation at Mott MacDonald.
Klaus Dalgaard from Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure and Geospatial division UK, added: “It creates an opportunity to enhance and bring to the forefront innovation that is available today and coming up for the future.”
The Digital Twin (DT) Hub operates in collaboration with the new National Digital Twin Programme run by the Government’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
