Urban mobility accelerator launches in Romania
Solutions from 14 teams will be tested and piloted in cities in the Western Region of Romania as part of the inVest – Urban Mobility Accelerator programme.
A smart logistics platform for cities, a peer-to-peer car sharing platform that allows users to rent underutilised private vehicles, and an affordable long-term subscriptions for electric bikes are among the selected teams participating in the the inVest – Urban Mobility Accelerator programme in Romania.
Out of more than 50 applications from across Europe, 14 teams have been chosen to join an intensive acceleration programme dedicated to urban mobility solutions, running from until October 2025.
Urban mobility space
The programme is organised by Iceberg Plus and Cowork Timișoara, with support from EIT Urban Mobility and ADR Vest. It is the first initiative of its kind in Romania, focused exclusively on transforming the way people and goods move through cities.
“This first cohort proves that Romania has enormous potential in the urban mobility space. We have teams working on everything from micromobility and traffic optimisation to smart data collection systems and digital platforms for urban logistics,” said Alexandra Hîncu, project manager inVest.
“Urban mobility is not just about technology – it’s about improving people’s lives in European cities. Through programmes like inVest, we help local startups become European players by giving them the context and resources they need to scale. Romania’s ecosystem is growing, and we’re excited to be part of this acceleration Expert EIT Urban Mobility.
Among the selected startups are:
- CautCurier: UrbanFlow is a smart logistics platform for cities that uses AI to optimise deliveries. The solution enables real-time route optimisation, integrates urban microhubs, and proposes a flexible fleet model adapted to the pace of urban life
- Volvero: peer-to-peer car sharing platform that allows users to rent underutilised private vehicles, easing the pressure on traditional fleets and offering flexible urban transport options
- Renter Mobility: affordable long-term subscriptions for electric bikes, designed for couriers and logistics firms. Packages include GPS anti-theft, a 30-minute repair-or-replace guarantee, and access to battery swap lockers
- BraveX Aero: urban logistics startup using drones to transform last-mile delivery, especially for high-value or time-sensitive goods – combining autonomous technologies, high mobility, and a reduced environmental footprint
- Drop: an all-in-one delivery platform that uses bike couriers for local food and retail, improving last-mile efficiency and promoting sustainable urban logistics
- Blume Technologies: the solution uses strategically placed LED lights to alert drivers to approaching pedestrians at crosswalks, enhancing safety through clear visual cues. An integrated AI system analyses video in real-time to detect and classify vehicles, with detailed traffic data available to authorities via a dedicated web platform.

Over the next few weeks, the teams will participate in:
- More than 10 hands-on workshops and personalised mentoring sessions
- Testing and piloting in cities from the Western Region of Romania
- Direct access to investors, public authorities, and international experts
- Participation in Demo Day Timișoara – the final event where teams will pitch their solutions to a jury of industry and public sector leaders.
