Lime rolls out e-scooters in Mexico City
Company says its entry into Mexico follows milestone of 13 million scooter and bike rides
Lime e-scooters line-up ready to hit the streets of Mexico City
Micro-mobility company, Lime, has launched its dockless electric scooter rental service in Mexico City.
The first Lime-S e-scooters will be available in the neighbourhoods of Polanco, Anzures, Juarez, La Condesa, and La Roma.
“Lime is committed to providing Mexico City with easy, quick and sustainable travel solutions,” said Alexander Wieland, general manager, Lime Mexico.
“E-scooters are relatively new in Mexico, and we believe our partnership with Mexico City will help them achieve their clean air goals while creating a positive economic impact through job creation and the Lime Juicer programme.”
Live GPS map locates scooters
The Lime app allows consumers to find available Lime-S e-scooters on its live GPS map. To access the service, Lime users will pay MEX$10.00 to unlock the scooter, through the app, available for iOS and android devices, and MEX$3.00 per minute.

Lime said it is also working with Mexican leaders and community partners, such as the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP), to ensure the safe introduction of Lime-S e-scooters to Mexico City.
“Lime, like other mobility solutions for last mile connection is great news for Mexico City. said Bernardo Baranda, director of ITDP Mexico.
“We should have more options other than cars in particular which is why we welcome new services that of course should operate with order, security and be part of a public policy of sustainable mobility.”
The company claims its entry into Mexico follows a milestone: 13 million scooter and bike rides in a little over 12 months. Since its launch in 2017, the company has served more than 100 markets across the US and Europe. By the end of 2018, Lime plans to launch in 50 new cities, internationally.
Funded by Silicon Valley based venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, Lime is based in San Francisco, California.
