Report by ProptechOS highlights 10 green headquarters of large companies in the US that have made eco-friendly office space central to sustainability efforts.
Real estate software company ProptechOS has taken a deep dive into the LEED database and highlighted 10 green headquarters of large companies in the US that are leading the way on the road to net zero.
The US Green Building Council (US GBC) and its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification database evaluates sustainability across various criteria and is the leading benchmark for sustainable buildings worldwide.
With buildings accounting for 40 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions, ProptechOS said making eco-friendly office spaces is a crucial component of overall sustainability efforts.
“With a strong brand comes added responsibility to lead by example in sustainability,” said Per Karlberg, CEO at ProptechOS. “It’s not just about market dominance or profitability; it’s about setting a standard and inspiring others to follow.”
The report includes an HQ that uses a herd of goats to graze and fertilise company grounds and another that has 40,000 plants from 50 countries spread across green areas.
“Green buildings are good for the environment and good for people but also make a lot of business and economic sense,” said Melissa Baker, senior vice president at the US Green Building Council.
“This is why major corporations worldwide have adopted green building certification for their headquarters and beyond. By supporting certified buildings, companies can save money, improve efficiency, lower carbon emissions, and create healthier places for people.”
