An expert panel of city practitioners discuss citizen issues and engagement in urban technology adoption and how to implement an effective and digitally-inclusive citizen engagement strategy.
Date Recorded: 24 March 2022
Length: 60 mins, including Q&A
New technology adoption in urban centres has never been so intense as it has been in the last two years, but running in tandem with this narrative is another of political and social unrest that seeks to put equity and inclusivity at the top of the agenda for city leaders. At the centre of this is the role of citizen engagement and how city halls around the world communicate on pressing issues with their diverse communities, including the ways in which potentially transformative technologies could impact their lives.
As decision makers must now consider more elements than they ever have before ahead of implementing new technology in cities, our panel - made up equally of digital and equity experts - sets out to discuss the challenges and find solutions on how to:
- Implement an effective and digitally-inclusive citizen engagement strategy
- Allay citizen privacy and security concerns on data-reliant projects and programmes
- Consider the impact of decisions on technology rollouts for all members of communities
- Put equity and inclusivity at the heart of decision making in tech-led projects
