SmartCitiesWorld has entered into a media partnership with FIWARE Foundation to support its initiatives that seek to solve urban challenges and support the wider smart digital ecosystem.

As part of the collaboration, SmartCitiesWorld will give media support to applicable events and projects and provide access to its content resources to the FIWARE Community.

Open standards

FIWARE Foundation is a non-profit organisation that drives and encourages the adoption of open standards (implemented using open source technologies) that ease the development of smart solutions across domains such as smart cities, smart energy, smart agrifood and smart industry, based on FIWARE technology.

Founded in 2016, the foundation has more than 370 global members which include Atos, Engineering, NEC, Red Hat, Telefónica, and Trigyn Technologies.

“We’re thrilled about this collaboration. SmartCitiesWorld’s commitment to sharing relevant knowledge about the importance of the development of an open, sustainable ecosystem strikes a chord with the vision of our community that is very much in line with FIWARE’s strong collaborative spirit,” said Ulrich Ahle, FIWARE Foundation CEO. “Also, over the next months, we will set out joint initiatives aimed at expanding both organisations’ activities portfolio and presence on the international stage.

“The partnership will enable both organisations to grow their global networks and offer more to our professional communities”

He added: “The one thing I never take for granted is the energy that our partners have shown us over the past four years as we’ve collaborated and innovated together. We look forward to navigating the uncharted (tech) waters with SCW and the fruits that this collaboration will bear.”

More than 100,000 visitors from the public and private sectors around the world use SmartCitiesWorld’s global content resource for urban leaders and their partners each month, accessing insight into buildings, connectivity, data, energy, governance and transport.

“The partnership with FIWARE Foundation will enable both organisations to grow their global networks and offer more to our professional communities. By providing quality information and services, we will help inform and support city leaders and their partners to make cities smarter, safer, more resilient, sustainable and prosperous places in which citizens and businesses can thrive,” said Chris Cooke, founder and CEO of SmartCitiesWorld.
