Wrong-way vehicle detection system rolled out nationally in US
It follows use of the artificial intelligence-enhanced GovComm solution by Florida Department of Transportation where it has helped prevent wrong-way crashes.
GovComm is rolling out its artificial intelligence-enhanced wrong-way vehicle detection systems (WWVDS) to agencies and departments of transportation across the US.
It follows its deployment by Florida Department of transportation (DoT).
Intelligent traffic safety solutions
The accelerated expansion is made possible by GovComm’s acquisition by Synapse ITS, a leader in transportation safety infrastructure.
GovComm joined the Synapse ITS family of brands in June 2025. They have a shared mission of developing and delivering best-in-class, intelligent traffic safety solutions. Synapse ITS is investing significant support and resources into GovComm’s technology, ensuring expedited growth and innovation in this critical safety space.

GovComm is one of six wrong-way vehicle detection systems on the Florida Department of Transportation’s approved list and claims to account for more deployments than all others combined, with over 400 installs in Florida.
Florida DoT’s deployment of GovComm systems has helped prevent wrong-way crashes using processing technology deterrents and sending real-time alerts to traffic management centres.

The GovComm solution claims to significantly reduce false alerts and confirm wrong-way vehicle events in real-time using advanced artificial intelligence and bi-spectrum cameras with integrated sensors.
GovComm is showcasing the system’s capabilities at the upcoming ITS World Congress in Atlanta, taking place until 28 August in Atlanta.
