Connected Sensors’ range of products is aimed at base-building and point-of-use water consumption monitoring and provides landlords, managers and owners of commercial and multi-use residential units more data and control.
Ontario-based Connected Sensors has launched a suite of water monitoring and leak detection products for commercial and multi-unit residential buildings in North America, following two years of research and development
The company’s approach to monitoring and leak detection is aimed at base-building and point-of-use water consumption monitoring and aims to provide landlords, managers and owners the ability to reduce costs, decrease building risk and improve their carbon footprint.
The suite includes Water Monkey, a wireless, battery-powered water flow meter. The LTE-connected smart device is compatible with all mechanical water meters and claims to require no invasive plumbing nor plumbing or electrical technicians for installation.
Using artificial intelligence (AI), Water Monkey provides information on the water consumption and leak profile of a building through monitoring water usage in real-time.
“Water prices in North America continue to increase year over year with no end in sight; in fact, we’ve recently heard from a client that their water expenses have surpassed natural gas”
It enables building managers to better understand consumption trends, leaks, and irregular usage by eliminating the lag between consumption and billing through litre-by-litre analytics. From there, Water Monkey will report back to the Connected Sensors dashboard and, via machine learning, understands where potential problems lie.
If issues such as unusual water flow or leaks are identified, Odeus, an internet-of-things (IoT), point-of-use, clamp-on leak and monitoring device, can be installed. It can be applied to a number of different water fixtures, including plumbing risers, water supply for individual units, and individual plumbing fixtures.
Working in conjunction with Connected Sensors’ desktop and mobile dashboard, Odeus is designed to provide targeted insights into water usage activity to detect burst pipes, leaks, irregular usage, and other water consumption issues at the source.
“Water prices in North America continue to increase year over year with no end in sight; in fact, we’ve recently heard from a client that their water expenses have surpassed natural gas,” said Simon Brunet, president of Connected Sensors. “Customers need new efficient solutions and services to reduce water consumption and keep soaring water bills under control.”
With rising water costs, fresh water scarcity, and increased government support for water conservation and environmental efforts, Connected Sensors reports it is seeing heightened demand amongst landlords, owners and managers in implementing water monitoring and leak detection systems.
