On Demand Webinar: Becoming truly smart – how can new cities add value to fibre with sensing?

Optimally installed fibre with Distributed Acoustic Sensing technology can vastly expand the range of applications that both improve quality of life for citizens and bring opportunities for other parties in the smart city ecosystems and greenfield sites.

Date Recorded:

29 July 2021

Length:

60 mins, including Q&A

Available On Demand

The webinar will examine the unique opportunity for architects, designers and planners offered by fibre installation in greenfield sites. When designing smart cities, all of those involved in designing and creating them must think about how to install infrastructure to optimise its value – this includes new concepts for planning fibre installation.

Fotech will put forward a proposal involving subtle changes in fibre placement and cable- and duct-building. This can have a powerful impact on the value of sensory data obtained from fibre, offering insights into the surrounding environment. There are many applications for optimally installed fibre running Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) technology, including monitoring and informing all forms of transport, protecting infrastructure, maintaining a secure and safe environment and improving quality of life for citizens.
