SmartCitiesWorld’s Cities Climate Action Summit (24-25 June) will serve as a cities-focused flagship event during LCAW 2025, reinforcing the critical role of cities in achieving climate goals ahead of Cop30.
LCAW, hosted by leading climate think tank E3G from 21-29 June 2025, is one of the world’s most influential climate gatherings, bringing together global leaders, policymakers, businesses, and civil society to shape climate ambition and action. For 2025, LCAW will focus on:
Beyond its thematic focus, LCAW 2025 is designed to deliver high-impact conversations and action on the road to Cop30, helping to shape policies and secure commitments that will contribute to a just and resilient climate transition. To achieve this, LCAW will establish a year-round programme that drives tangible climate outcomes across key areas such as finance, risk and resilience, innovation, health, and climate diplomacy.
The organisers are also building whole-of-society engagement, raising public visibility and debate around London’s 2030 Net Zero goal, as well as expanding the global network of climate action weeks to mobilise more cities worldwide.
As a global knowledge platform with a 50,000-plus strong international membership of city leaders, policymakers and urban innovators, SmartCitiesWorld will be a key supporter of LCAW’s ambition to expand climate action weeks to more cities globally. SmartCitiesWorld will leverage its reach to directly engage cities in its global network of members and partners to encourage them to kickstart their own local climate action weeks.
“Our partnership with LCAW is a demonstration of our commitment to support and accelerate urban climate action by connecting and inspiring cities through our Cities Climate Action Campaign”
Together with LCAW, we will work to get these new climate action weeks off the ground and provide comprehensive coverage of cities who take up the call to action, providing a platform to promote not only their new climate action weeks, but also local climate action projects and initiatives – part of SmartCitiesWorld’s ongoing commitment to bring cities together to accelerate climate action.
Taking place during LCAW 2025, the Cities Climate Action Summit will bring together city officials, policymakers, technology providers, and sustainability experts to discuss:
This year’s Summit is the centrepiece of SmartCitiesWorld’s wider Cities Climate Action Campaign – a dedicated editorial initiative that highlights how cities worldwide are addressing climate change. The campaign provides in-depth insights into best practices, challenges, and innovative solutions that drive urban sustainability and resilience. This includes:
Chris Cooke, founder and CEO of SmartCitiesWorld, said: “SmartCitiesWorld is proud to partner with London Climate Action Week to drive meaningful urban climate action at a global scale. “Through our Cities Climate Action Campaign and Summit, and our global network of over 50,000 city leaders and innovators, we are committed to supporting LCAW’s mission to expand climate action weeks worldwide and accelerate collaboration between cities. As we move towards Cop30, this partnership will help ensure that cities have a strong voice in shaping a sustainable future.

“Our partnership with LCAW is a demonstration of our commitment to support and accelerate urban climate action by connecting and inspiring cities through our Cities Climate Action Campaign. The last two editions of our Cities Climate Action Summit have helped put SmartCitiesWorld at the heart of the local climate action movement – we see this partnership as the next step to bringing more cities together for more tangible, achievable and meaningful climate action.”
Nick Mabey, founder and chair, LCAW, added: “Cities are at the forefront of climate action, driving change both locally and globally. As one of the world’s largest city-wide climate events, London Climate Action Week uses the power of London as a global city to drive local and global climate action. The London Climate Action Week model is inspiring cities worldwide to launch their own climate weeks and we’re working together to shape green, fair and resilient cities and climate action. We are delighted to welcome Cities Climate Action Summit back to London Climate Action Week in 2025, bringing together city leaders, policy makers and communities to meet, debate and collaborate.”
